P&O’sย Pacific Explorerย arrived in Sydney on Monday morning with more than 100 passengers testing positive to the virus.
But passengers disembarking said it had been handled well, and just a few passengers had caused some problems.
At the end of a nine-day roundtrip out of Sydney, there are about 2800 crew and passengers onboard, with all those infected being subject to isolation requirements on a separate deck.
Of those infected, passengers who live in Sydney are able to return home.ย Those who travelled from interstate are being put up in hotel rooms by P&O.
Sharon Zahabi and her family were cruising onย Pacific Explorerย and are now in isolation.
Ms Zahabi toldย Nine News: “Everytime you go into any of those marquees or theatre rooms or in to eat you have to have your mask on … I mean they’re cleaning all the time, sanitising.”
Ms Zahabi does not see this as a deterrent to future cruise travels.
“We booked knowing that there’s a chance that we would catch COVID and we still came and we will still cruise again as well.”
Those who were forced to isolate on the cruise will receive a refund from P&O.
