Luxury river line Uniworld has revealed the debut of three new ships for 2028. This will increase the line’s fleet to a total of 22 vessels sailing across Europe, Asia as well as Egypt.

The new ships – the S.S. Helen, S.S. Clara, and Mekong Mystique – will be based on the Danube, Rhine and Mekong rivers.

Just earlier this year, Uniworld revealed it would be adding four more ships to its fleet in 2027, marking the start of huge expansion plans for the burgeoning luxury company.

“This is one of the most significant periods of investment and growth in Uniworld’s history,” says Ellen Bettridge, President and CEO of Uniworld Boutique River Cruises. “

As demand for immersive travel continues to grow, every new ship we build allows us to continue raising the bar for luxury river cruising. It’s also an opportunity to create deeper, more meaningful connections between our guests and the destinations we sail.”

Uniworld has also opened bookings for the 2028 season, allowing river cruisers to reserve sailings on its brand new ships.

S.S. Helen

Named after the legendary Helen of Troy, the S.S. Helen draws inspiration from European classical antiquity and the enduring influence of Greek culture throughout the Danube region.

The ship embraces the philosophy of Mediterranean elegance, resulting in a serene atmosphere inspired by nature, timeless architecture and the Greek concept of philoxenia, or warm hospitality.

Sailing the Danube, the S.S. Helen will offer guests a 15-day ‘Danube Grandeur’ sailing. The route will include cultural treasures of six countries through visits to storybook villages, grand European capitals and breathtaking river landscapes.

S.S. Clara

Joining Uniworld’s Rhine fleet, the S.S. Clara honours the pioneering 17th-century Flemish painter Clara Peeters, one of the Dutch Golden Age’s most celebrated female artists.

Inspired by her richly detailed still-life paintings, the ship’s interiors will feature vibrant florals, elegant textures and refined European craftsmanship.

Designed to capture the artistry and beauty synonymous with the Rhine region, the S.S. Clara offers a fresh interpretation of one of Europe’s most iconic waterways.

The S.S. Clara will debut on ‘Holland & Belgium at Tulip Time,’ a seasonal guest favourite itinerary celebrating springtime in the Netherlands and Belgium as guests sail past vibrant tulip fields, charming canals and historic cities.

Mekong Mystique

Expanding Uniworld’s presence in Southeast Asia alongside the existing Mekong Jewel, the Mekong Mystique brings additional capacity to one of the world’s most culturally immersive river destinations.

Drawing inspiration from classic Indochine design, the ship combines refined European architectural details and dark woods with creamy colors and natural materials such as bamboo and rattan, creating interiors that reflect the rich heritage and stunning landscapes of Vietnam and Cambodia.

The Mekong Mystique will exclusively sail on Uniworld’s immersive ‘Timeless Wonders of Vietnam, Cambodia & the Mekong’ itinerary, connecting travellers with centuries-old traditions, bustling floating markets, ancient temples and authentic local communities along the Mekong River.
