After its success in Bordeaux, Avalon Waterways is expanding its France portfolio for 2027.

  • Avalon Waterways will add two new French itineraries in 2027.
  • The two sailings will be on the Seine and include the beautiful Normandy and Provence region.
  • France still remains one of the most popular itineraries for Avalon Waterways guests.

After its success in Bordeaux, Avalon Waterways is expanding its France portfolio for 2027.

The idea is to connect the country’s most beloved regions, the shore excursions, and experiences and bring them to life.

The cruise line for next year is adding the Avalon Artistry II to the Seine, which is seeing huge demand.

Off the back of the cruise line’s Wish List, which surveyed around 10,000 of its previous guests, France still remains the top of the most desired destination – 35 per cent of its past guests voted for the region.

“When guests show us where they want to go, we meet them there,” said President Pam Hoffee. “Right now, that place is France.”

“These journeys reflect how people want to travel today,” said Hoffee. “They’re looking to get the most out of their international journey in a single trip – with greater depth, more variety and the ease of knowing every detail has been thoughtfully handled.”

Just recently, Avalon Waterways announced that once the 2026 season has been completed in France’s Bordeaux region, Avalon Artistry II will relocate to the Seine.

The two new journeys for 2027 include:

  • Seine & Rhine Revealed blends the ever-popular Paris and Normandy itinerary with the Rhine’s castles and vineyards.
  • France Unveiled: Seine & Rhône sails from the capital to Provence with the opportunity to extend to the French Riviera, pairing inland discovery with an optional two-night coastal stay.

As on all Avalon Waterways sailings, the line’s special Choice Excursions will be available for guests. Cruisers will be able to pick from Classic, Active and Discovery.

Classic shore excursions will include must-see destinations. Active adventures will be focused on activities like hiking and biking, while Discovery activities are designed for more connection to local culture.

Some of the shore excursions on these beautiful French itineraries include tracing World War II history along the shores of Normandy, diving into French jazz music, as well as culinary explorations through the country.

Cruise Passenger was onboard a river cruise itinerary in Bordeaux in 2025 which sailed the Garonne and Dordogne.
