Cruise Passenger readers always have plenty to say about what’s going on in Australian cruise, and in the broader cruise community. In Your Say, Cruise Passenger looks at the issues our readers are writing to us about on our blogs, posts and newsletters.
Crown Princess, a beloved ship for many Aussies recently sailed through Sydney, getting ready to commence a massive 115-day world cruise.
Over the coming months she’ll visit Africa, Northern Europe, the Mediterranean, the UK, Canada, the Caribbean and the South Pacific before arriving back in Australia.
Cruise Passenger shared a photo of the ship sailing into Sydney, and cruisers came out in doves to share their own experiences on Princess world cruises. All kinds of fond memories across different routes and ships were shared.
World cruises are a bucket list item for many, so hear from some of the cruisers who have managed to be on one about why they feel its worth it.
Cruiser Judy Thompson has sailed multiple long haul cruises with Princess.
“I did 104 nights on Sea Princess in 2016 and 107 nights on Coral in 2023. Also did 99 nights on P&O Arcadia from Southampton in 2018. Love the world cruises. But all too expensive now for a solo traveller.”
Jay Johnston shared his experience of a world cruise last year on Crown Princess.
“We did the WC last year on the Crown. Absolutely brilliant. To all on board, enjoy every moment with your wonderful crew. It’s the best … I’m so jealous and will be watching sail away on the news with so many fond memories .. bon voyage.”
Christine Doyle was on the same cruise: “I went on the 2025 World Cruise on the Crown. Memories for a lifetime. The trip was fabulous. Staff are the best.”
Gill Moroney as well: “We enjoyed the world cruise on Crown last year. It was an amazing trip around the world. To those who are sailing this year, have a wonderful time.”
Christine Day also sailed a world cruise, on Sun Princess in 2017.
“Loved every minute of it. I feel sorry for the new World trippers, having to miss sailing through the Suez Canal. That and the Panama Canal were absolute highlights of the cruise.
“So glad we got to do it when the prices were not sky high and the afternoon tea trolley still came along the open decks. Go if you can.”
Murray Savage has done a world cruise on Coral Princessi and says Africa proved to be a highlight.
We did same world trip on Coral princess in 24, it was absolutely fabulous and going around South Africa was a great day, totally different than going through the Med and in my opinion better because of the different out of the way countries. We even visited a wildlife safari park out of Cape Town.”
Rosemarie East has also enjoyed a long haul cruise and laments that due to geopolitical situations many routes can no longer be taken.
“We did 107 days on a Coral Princess world cruise in 2023. Loved every minute, but feel sad that so much of our itinerary cannot be included at the moment.”
Diane Mcparland added similar thoughts: “We did the world cruise in 2011. Went through both canals and saw the Pyramids. Not possible now. We think it was on the Dawn. All written down at home, we’re on our way home now.”
Shane Symonds shared his experience as well.
“I did a world cruise in 2023 on Coral Princess, 107 days. It was the first world cruise out of Sydney after Covid, so lucky as we got to go through the Suez and Panama canals.
“The whole cruise, itinerary, staff, everything was amazing. I did not want to get off.”
Lu James-Whyms pointed to the closeness that passengers develop sailing together for so long.
“Went on the 2015 World Cruise Los Angeles round trip on the Pacific Princess. You will become ‘family’! Bon Voyage!”
