Scenic has just announced another major expansion, this time in its river cruise division.
As Scenic celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, the line will debut Emerald Nova on the Douro River in Portugal with a longer 11-day, immersive itinerary exploring Porto, Salamanca and the wine valley in June 2027.
This will give guests a taste of some of Portugal’s vibrant cities as well as embark on guided hikes and for the more active travellers, they can also go kayaking.

The line will also launch the luxury spaceship, Scenic Aria to sail the Douro River in September next year which will offer two signature itineraries, an 11-day unforgettable Douro journey and an eight-day delightful Douro cruise in 2027.
In Asia, Scenic will expand its fleet and debut Scenic Spirit II on the Mekong River in 2028 for guests to experience the authentic local life as the ship sails through Vietnam and Cambodia.
“Our commitment to an additional three new river ships for the Scenic and Emerald Cruises brands, reflects our confidence in the strong demand for our unique approach to luxury cruising. With Scenic Ikon in build for delivery in 2028 and five Emerald Cruises yachts and river ships already confirmed, this announcement marks the next phase of our strategic fleet growth,” said Glen Moroney, chairman and founder of Scenic Group.
Scenic has previously confirmed two new ships including Emerald Astra sailing on the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers in May this year and Emerald Lumi debuting on the Seine River in 2027.
In addition, the line will launch three new luxury yachts – Emerald Kaia in April this year, Emerald Raiya in 2027 and Emerald Xara in 2028. Scenic will also debut Scenic Ikon in 2028.
