- Disney Wonder’s time is coming to an end in Australia.
- But a new Disney Cruise Line ship is coming to our part of the world.
- Here’s why Aussies are keen to sail on Disney Adventure out of Singapore.
Disney’s massive new cruise ship, Disney Adventure, not only represents a new age of cruising for the family-friendly brand, but also for Australians.
Disney Wonder, which has sailed the past three seasons in Australia, will be repositioning to the Northern Hemisphere.
Disney Cruise Line has struggled to sell some of its cruises, even dropping prices and promotions to encourage cruisers to book.
But for diehard DCL fans, it was disappointing to see the Disney Wonder leave Australia. However, the diehard Disney fans will find a way to get onboard. It appears many will be heading to Singapore, where Disney Adventure will homeport year-round.
Cruise Passenger reader Yolande Owens was a keen Wonder cruiser and isn’t planning on slowing down.
“I have cruised on the Wonder five times since she started her Australian cruises and am booked on her last cruise from Sydney – Honolulu on February 2nd. The last cruise will certainly be bittersweet; however, I am also looking forward to experiencing a new ship when I sail on the Adventure from Singapore.
“I hope we see Disney cruising from Australia again in the future but it would be great if it was a different ship next time.”
Tyson Dau is another loyal Disney cruiser, is also looking forward to sailing on Disney Adventure.
“The Wonder has felt like home for the past three years and has been the ‘place’ where I actually get to just feel comfortable and have fun. More than any other holiday. I will miss it for sure, especially after doing Christmas and New Year’s 15 days back-to-back.
“2027 will be my year to go see the Adventure, and I hope to do back to back to back to get some decent time, but I don’t feel like it’ll be as comfortable with so many people, but we’ll see.”
Aussies who are looking to head to Singapore don’t have to wait too much longer, after some delays, Disney Adventure is set to start sailing from March 10.
For those who are looking to join cruisers like Yolande and Tyson and head to Singapore, here are some of the basics to know.
How much does a cruise with Disney Adventure cost?
Here are the prices for a voyage on Disney Adventure.
- A three-night cruise starts from $2711 for a four-guest cabin, meaning a total of $677.75 per person, or $226 per person per night.
- A four-night cruise starts from $3515 for four-guests, meaning a total of $875.75 per guest or $220 per guest per night.
- Disney Adventure cruises are priced based on a cabin of four guests, however, if you have less guests, you still pay the same price. This means that prices are most beneficial to couples who are bringing two children.
- Many Aussie sailings on Disney Wonder started as high as $375 per night per person, nearly double that of Disney Adventure’s starting prices. In general, Disney Adventure’s rates are about 25 – 40% better.
- The ship doesn’t visit any ports, which may be disappointing for some, but also means less money is being spent overall, as all your time will be spent on the ship where your food and entertainment is included.
How much will your whole holiday cost?
- It will of course depend on where you’re flying from and what level of luxury you’re looking for, but here’s what to know.
- Flight prices from Sydney or Melbourne to Singapore start from about $800 per person return.
- A hotel stay in a three or four star hotel, will generally come to about $350 per night for a family of four.
- Therefore, in total for a family of four, including the base costs of a four-night cruise, two-nights in a hotel and flights, a trip will come out to $7415 in total for about a week-long trip.
- This price is before calculating some extras like transport, transfers, meals in Singapore and so on.
- Depending on where you’re coming from, this could turn out even cheaper than cruising with Disney in Australia.
