Discover the secrets of the Peruvian Amazon river with Delfin Amazon Cruises

  • Flagship ship, Delfin I has been refurbished as the most luxurious way to cruise the Amazon River.
  • Delfin Amazon Cruises is the only operator to partner with Relais & Chateaux.
  • An Amazon river cruise is more like a safari of discovery.

Luxury, family-run Delfin Amazon Cruises is on a major drive to entice Australians to discover the secrets of the Peruvian Amazonia onboard its refurbished, flagship ship, Delfin I.

Delfin I with 33 sq m spacious suites, a 30 sq m private terrace with an outdoor whirlpool is “the only Amazonian river cruise to offer this level of discreet indulgence”, said owner and CEO Aldo Macchiavello.

“Many Australians are under the wrong impression that it takes too long to fly to South America. In fact, it takes four hours less to fly from Sydney to Lima than from Sydney to Rome.

“We are the first Relais & Chateaux river cruise in the world, and the food we serve onboard is absolutely amazing. We also have 100 per cent Amazonian crew and team.

“Delfin I is the most luxurious ship on the Amazon, and because it is a small vessel, it can access parts of the river than other bigger ships are unable to do so,” he added.

Wildlife is at the forefront of any Amazon cruise, and the Pacaya Samira National Reserve is one of the most biodiverse regions in the world. The Amazon is a paradise for birdwatchers, with more than 4,000 birds calling it home. The dawn chorus is a mix from the piercing cry of a black-collared hawk, the cheerful whistles of tuki tuki to the steady drumming of a woodpecker tapping against a tree.

Delfin I has only four oversized suites where guests can experience two excursions a day. They can go kayaking, hiking, and swim with the pink river dolphins.

Prices for a three-night itinerary start from US$1700 per person per night.

Its newest and largest ship is Delfin III, with 22 suites including the Owner’s Suite at 55 sq m, with floor-to-ceiling windows, a private lounge and an oversized bathroom including a soaking tub.

Delfin III has a massage room, a whirlpool on the back terrace, a lounge, and a main restaurant.

Prices for a three-night voyage start from US$1300 per person per night.

Delfin II, with 14 suites, has been exclusively chartered by Lindblad Expeditions – National Geographic.

“Peru is closer to Australia than Europe and Australians would adore to experience the unbelievable nature, culture, pink river dolphins and other wildlife that only a cruise on the Amazon can offer.
