Emerald Cruises to launch seventh ship for 2026

Emerald Cruises to launch seventh river ship in 2026

Emerald Cruises is adding a new Star-Ship, the Emerald Astra in 2026. But the line is also planning extensive upgrades to the river fleet across Europe.

Where will the Emerald Astra sail?

The Emerald Astra will be able to accommodate 180 guests and is set to sail the Rhine, Main and Danube in 2026. The Greek and Latin origins of Astra translates to star and the Emerald Astra will be the seventh Star-Ship.

The ship will have classic Emerald Cruises amenities like the pool/cinema combination, a sun deck with panoramic views and multiple dining options. All the interiors have also been updated with a sleek and contemporary design, aiming to take in the atmosphere of the European cities and towns the ship visits.

Fleet-wide enhancements

The cruise line has started extensive upgrades on its fleet which includes vessels that sail the Rhine-Main-Danube, Rhone in France, and the Douro in Portugal. The updates will be rolled out for next season.

The Star-Ships on the Rhine-Main-Danube route will get new lounge furniture with bright accent colours and luxurious textiles. The Emerald Radiance which will sail on the Douro and the Emerald Liberte on the Rhone will also have similar décor updates.

The pool and cinema areas along the Reflections Restaurant and The Terrace will be updated with new furniture and there will be a change in the layout to help with flow through.

Emerald Cruises will also be adding Missoni textiles and art installations, a design aspect they have taken from their yachts.

Guests in each cabin will also have iPads which will enhance guest interaction with onboard amenities. They will also have access to each journey’s itinerary providing a digital resource.

“As we continue to expand our fleet and enhance the guest experience, our commitment remains steadfast: to provide unrivalled luxury and value in river cruising,” said Glen Moroney, founder and Chairman of Scenic Group.
