Cruise lines love to promote the first keel laying of a new ship, but what does a keel really look like?

Norwegian Cruise Line has captured the keel laying of its first Breakaway Plus cruise ship at a German shipyard this month.

The first of 86 blocks was lifted into the covered building dock, officially marking the start of the ship’s construction.

Named Norwegian Escape, the ship will be the largest vessel in the line’s fleet when she launches in October next year.
