Uniworld has released details of its 19th river ship, which is to be named S.S. Maria Theresa.
The new ‘Super Ship’ has been named after the Queen of Hungary and Bohemia and the mother of “let them eat cake”, Marie Antoinette.
Scheduled to launch between April and May next year, she will carry 155 guests in one royal suite, five suites and 72 staterooms.
She will sail various itineraries, including Uniworld’s European Jewels itinerary from Budapest to Amsterdam; Tulips & Windmills; Danube Holiday Markets; and Enchanting Christmas and New Year’s Cruise.
True to Uniworld’s unique approach to river cruising, the ship’s design will be rich in character with original hand-selected art, classic furnishings and old world antiques.
Public areas include the main lounge with a full-service bar, a restaurant, Terrace Sun Deck with chess and shuffleboard, a heated swimming pool, fitness center, Serenity River Spa and a boutique.
There will also be free Internet onboard, a cinema and a 24-hour specialty coffee and tea bar.
President Guy Young said the line ensures all its ships are one-of-a-kind, luxury product.
“At the forefront of everything we do is attention to detail, so no corners are ever cut at the expense of our guests,” he said.
“With the popularity of river cruising growing and more ships being built, Uniworld’s goal is to not be the biggest but to deliver a consistently outstanding experience to our guests.”
The announcement follows last month’s inauguration of the line’s newest ‘Super Ship’, S.S. Catherine.
Mr Young said in one month the ship has received positive feedback from passengers for its design and amenities.
