While many cruise lines have been pulling their ships out of Egypt, Uniworld, which is part of The Travel Corporation, will be resuming their cruises along the Nile in 2015.

Many lines, over the past four years have cancelled cruises to the region after Egyptians went to the streets at Tahrir Square to demonstrate for a more democratic society.

It has been a relief for Egypt’s tourism industry as business took a sharp decline in 2010. Since July, more and more tourists have been returning to the region.

Uniworld’s River Tosca, which is part of its Boutique River Cruise Collection will set sail on October 2015.

According to Travel Corporation’s CEO Brett Tollman, cruisers now want to return to tour Egypt.

“We are seeing a pent-up demand for the destination and are delighted to be able to elevate our support for this truly remarkable part of the world.”

Uniworld’s 12-day program starts and ends in Cairo and guests will spend four nights at the Four Seasons Cairo at Nile Plaza before boarding the 82-passenger all-suite River Tosca.

President of Uniworld Guy Young said, “Egypt is one of the most aw-inspiring destinations that I have ever visited and one that no culturally curious traveller will want to miss. I am delighted we are able to resume sailing the Nile and taking our guests to Egypt’s most historic sites.”

The itinerary includes small group excursions such as the Temples of Karnak and Luxor, the Great Pyramids of Giza and Sphinx, the Valley of the Kings, and the Temples of Horus, Hathor and Hatshepsut.

It was reported in October that Seabourn took no chances with their guests and even organised armed guards and police officers to escort passengers around tourist hot spots.
