The 115,875-ton Diamond Princess, carrying a total 3,800 passengers and crew, cruised into Sydney Harbour on Friday morning, December 16 – the biggest ship to visit Australia this season.
Arriving from Asia, the ship berthed at Circular Quay’s Overseas Passenger Terminal at 7am and, after a photo shoot with Santa, departed at 8pm on a 13-night Christmas cruise to New Zealand.
The ship will cruise between Australia and New Zealand until February and with each of her three Sydney visits is expected to inject approximately $1 million into the local economy through passenger and crew spending, stores and port fees.
Diamond Princess is a true giant of the seas. Her 290-metre length is the equivalent of three football fields or four 747 jumbo jets, while her interior boasts four pools, 10 restaurants and cafes, a wedding chapel, a mini golf course, 13 bars and lounges, two nightclubs, a luxury spa sanctuary and 1,337 cabins – 750 of which have their own private balcony.
