Viking River Cruises has placed an order for two additional Longships in 2013, bringing the number of its new river ships launching next year to eight, and a total of 14 new Viking Longships over a two-year period.
Marking a landmark year of innovation and expansion, Viking River Cruises (www.vikingrivercruises.com.au) proudly christened the first four of its new Viking Longships at a spectacular event in Amsterdam yesterday.
Four hundred years ago these commands would have been bellowed in old Dutch as the little Duyfken bobbed about in the Gulf of Carpentaria on its scouting mission to the southern land.
