At the launch of Silversea’s season, the line released more details of the Silver Cloud joining it’s expedition fleet in November 2017.

Director of Expedition Planning and Strategic Development Conrad Combrink also revealed the line’s intention to discover new destinations like Bangladesh in the coming years.

Silverseas has made a push for its expedition sector with the line saying that they have seen an increase in its guests interest in luxury adventure.

Silver Cloud will join the Silver Explorer, Silver Discoverer and Silver Galapagos.

The ship, which currently accommodates 296 guests, will be converted into an ice-class ship bound for the Arctic and Antarctic.

Silverseas’ Director of Expedition of Planning and Strategic Development Conrad Combrink said the ship will have double the number of zodiacs so that all passengers can disembark.

“If we have a shore excursion or if our expedition leaders see something amazing like a four tonne humpback whale in the water, or penguins, it means that everyone can get off and get a chance to experience the wonders of Antarctica,” he said.

“The specialty ship is designed so if we want to make spur of the moment landings, then we are able to do so.”

Silver Explorer’s polar expedition cruises have proven hugely popular with out guests,” said Karen Christensen, General Manager and Director of Sales/Marketing of Silversea in Australasia.

“By converting Silver Cloud into an ice-class ship for our expedition fleet, we will be better positioned to meet the increasing demand for comfortable adventure travel, particularly to the Arctic and Antarctic, destinations that are best explored by small ships specially equipped with ice-strengthened hulls.”

The Silver Cloud will be the only ice-class expedition ship with five dining options including The Dining Room, the Relais & Chateaux restaurant, The Grill and in-suite dining.

Ms Christensen also spoke about Silver Muse, Silverseas’ newest ship.

“All of the rooms will be vista suites with very few interior cabins. There will be 34 silver suites as well interconnecting rooms. We are finding that our guests like to travel with their extended family so these suites will give them the opportunity to,” she said.

The line has also launched a dedicated website for its newest vessel.

Silver Muse will be launched in April 2017.
