APT is planning its very own royal christening, naming Her Royal Highness, Princess Heide von Hohenzollern of Germany as the godmother of its newest ship.
The 164-passenger vessel, MS AmaReina is set to make her debut in 2014 when she is blessed by the Princess in Vilshofen, Germany on 4 April, 2014.
Princess Heide von Hohenzollern will be the second princess to christen a ship this decade, with Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge blessing Princess Cruises’ Royal Princess earlier this year.
APT general manager marketing Debra Fox said Princess Heide was selected because of her close work with the line to create its 2014 program of ‘Royal Experience’ European river cruises and granting APT guests access to her home in Burg Namedy Castle.
Ms Fox said: “We are both delighted and honored that Princess Heide has accepted and we look forward to joining her as she bestows her blessing, giving the AmaReina the royal seal of approval as she sets sail on her maiden voyage.”
As the ship’s honorary godmother, she will responsible for blessing the vessel to ensure the safety of its passengers and crew.
