There’s something magical about seeing or, better still, being on a ship under full sail. Sea Cloud II was the last windjammer ever built on which guests can experience the sails being set and marvel at sailing manoeuvres performed entirely by hand.

Sea Cloud II entered service in 2001 and is the younger sister of the legendary Sea Cloud, which was built 80 years ago for American millionaires Edward Hutton and Marjorie Merriweather Post. Sea Cloud II has 47 cabins and boasts the same luxurious 1930s style as the original Sea Cloud.

In January 2012, the magnificent vessel will sail the Panama Canal for the first time, and Costa Rica, often referred to as the ‘Switzerland of South America’, will be a special feature on two separate itineraries.

Each cruise combines the experience of sailing along the Pacific coast with a variety of shore visits to Costa Rica’s beautiful National Parks. Biologists, local guides and lecturers on board will unveil the wonder of Costa Rica’s countryside to guests while they also enjoy the highest level of comfort that a luxury sailing ship has to offer.
