It’s not often you get to dine at a French restaurant aboard an American ship in Sydney Harbour.

But the experience aboard the Regent Seven Seas Voyager, which recently came out of dry dock with fresh new interiors, would have been as good as any you could find on the Champs-Elysees.

The Voyager has been transformed. Its Observation Lounge is now open plan, with new furnishings and chic décor.

Docked at White Bay, the Lounge’s big bay windows offered a Harbour Bridge view and Opera House glimpses.

The Constellation Theatre has been recarpeted and allows for a lovely cabaret feel for the resident band and Cirque style acrobats.

Sadly, the ship was so full we couldn’t get a sneak peak inside the penthouse suites, which have been refurnished and redecorated.

But Regent Seven Seas Cruises president Kunal S Kamlani wasn’t holding back when he described the refurbishment as turning the Voyager into “the most beautiful ship afloat”.

Sitting in the classic French Signatures restaurant sipping Sancerre and feasting on crab cakes and duck breast, it was easy to believe Kunal could have a point.

Signatures is one of four gourmet restaurants on board the Voyager.

The food is exceptional and the service as polished as the silver.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises describes itself as the world’s most inclusive luxury cruise line.

Fares include all-suite accommodations, round-trip air, highly personalised service, acclaimed cuisine, fine wines and spirits, sightseeing excursions in every port, a pre-cruise luxury hotel package and gratuities.

Three award-winning, all-suite vessels, Seven Seas Mariner, Seven Seas Voyager, and Seven Seas Navigator, claim to be among the most spacious at sea and visit more than 250 destinations around the globe.

And for Regent fans, the good news is they have ordered a new liner – with the bold boast that the Explorer will be “the most luxurious cruise ship ever built”.
