If you’re travelling on Golden Princess or Ruby Princess in the next month, you’ll be sharing your personal space with one of society’s most feared creatures: the shark.
Now before you get on the cancellation hotline, we should probably mention they won’t be real. No, no – its simply a theme inspired by Discovery Channel’s Shark Week.
“We know how wildly popular Shark Week is worldwide, and we’re excited to bring even more fun, education and entertainment to our guests,” says Jan Swartz, President of Princess Cruises.
As a way of creating “an appreciation for these tremendously misunderstood denizens of the deep”, Shark Week at Sea will feature:
Games, such as estimating the number of shark teeth in a jar, as well as giveaways and trivia.
Premiere TV content, giving passengers the chance to watch sneak peeks of Shark Week, which airs on Discovery Channel from July 5 to 12.
Parties – yep, the blue carpet will be rolled out for the premiere parties that will live-stream Shark Week content.
Food at The International Cafe will feature shark cookies during ‘milk and cookie hour’. Princess pastry chefs will create shark cakes and even ice and fruit carvings. There will also be shark-themed cocktails available.
From floor to floor, even the elevators weren’t exempt from the fun! One elevator on each ship will be dressed up to give passengers the feeling of being inside a shark cage. Eek!
And don’t tell the kids, but those aged between three and 12 will receive a toy rubber shark at turndown.
Welcome to Shark Week!
