Princess Cruises is expanding its fleet, with a brand new ship scheduled to enter service in 2017.
The 143,000-tonne ship will be built by Italian company, Fincantieri, and will have similar features and design to its two sister ships, Royal Princess and Regal Princess.
Carrying 3,560-passengers, the unnamed vessel will include signature Princess experiences, including a central atrium hub with multiple dining, entertainment and retail venues; an adults-only sanctuary; the Movies Under the Star cinema experience; and 80 percent of its staterooms will have balconies.
Further details will be released in the coming months along with amenities and deployment.
Princess Cruises president Jan Swartz said the line is keen to add the new ship to its fleet, particularly after the success of Royal Princess and Regal Princess.
“We’re very pleased that this new ship order is an indication of the confidence that our parent Carnival Corporation has in the future of the Princess brand,” she said.
This week, Princess Cruises also announced a ‘sweet’ adjustment to its on board desserts. The has teamed up with one of the top 10 chocolatiers in North America, Norman Love, to serve new custom-crafted desserts, chocolates and wine pairings.
