Princess Cruises’ new cruise ship Regal Princess sets sail

Princess Cruises’ newest ship Regal Princess has started welcoming her first guests as she prepares to take off on her maiden voyage from Venice this week.

Regal Princess, a sister ship to Royal Princess, is the 18th ship in the Princess fleet and carries 3,560 passengers.

Highlights of the new ship include the SeaWalk, an over-water SeaWalk on a top-deck glass-bottomed enclosed walkway on the ship’s starboard side.

She also has the Dramatic Atrium where guests can gather for a light meal and entertainment; the Chef’s Table Lumiere; Princess Watercolor Fantasy – a central pool area with daily and nightly performances; Princess Live! – a television studio; and the Horizon Bistro Pastry Shop where guests can pick up fresh-baked goodies.

There are also two new features onboard – an aft pool and access to the exterior promenade on deck seven where guests can walk the length of the ship.

For her first season, she will sail Princess Cruises’ signature Grand Mediterranean itineraries, which includes visits to Corfu, Mykonos and Istanbul.

She will make her debut in North America in November where she will also be christened. A Princess Cruises spokesperson said the ship’s godmother will be announced shortly.
