The number of cruise ships at sea continues to rise by the year. So for some cruisers it can be hard to choose which one to sail on, let alone pick a favourite.
So how are the most popular cruise ships determined? Facebook likes of course.
An American cruise site, Cruise Critic, has put together a list of the ten most popular cruise ships as determined by a review of pageviews, Facebook likes and member reviews.
According to the site, 3,690-passenger vessel, Carnival Breeze is the most popular ship amongst travellers. She is the third in Carnival Cruise Lines’ Dream class and offers passengers year-round Caribbean cruises from Miami.
Norwegian Breakaway follows in second place. She made her maiden voyage in April this year and provides guests with three award-winning live broadway shows, an Aqua Park with five multi-story waterslides and Nickelodeon inspired entertainment rooms for the kids.
Royal Caribbean’s two Oasis class ships, Allure of the Seas and Oasis of the Seas came in third and fourth most popular. Both ships cater to 5,400 passengers and feature a Central Park outdoor garden, FlowRider surf simulator and ice-skating rink.
Carnival’s second entry in the top ten is the Carnival Dream. She carries 3,646 passengers and is equipped with a water park, dive-in movies area as well as a seaside theatre.
Norwegian Epic landed the sixth spot with her popularity amongst single cruisers. She was the first to introduce solo studio cabins at sea.
Next on the list is Celebrity Reflection. She is the final ship is Celebrity Cruise Lines’ Solstice Class ships and provides guests with a Hideaway in the center of the ship for quiet time and an Art Studio.
It may only be a few months since Royal Princess made her maiden voyage, but she managed to rank as the eighth most popular amongst cruisers. She was christened by Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge and features a Tea Tower and Turkish-style steam rooms.
Having a multiplatinum selling godmother [Mariah Carey] may have worked in Disney Fantasy’s favor, because she is the ninth most popular cruise ship. She is one of four Disney ships and takes up to 4,000-passengers around parts of the Caribbean.
Completing the top ten popular ships list is Jewel of the Seas. She is one of four Royal Caribbean Radiance Class ships and entertains guests with rock-climbing, a mini-golf course and a video game arcade.
