Ponant has experienced record growth since announcing its expansion Down Under, achieving a 50 percent year-on-year growth in bookings for the first five months of 2014.
In November last year, the French company appointed former Orion boss, Sarina Bratton to head its operations in Australasia, including the arrival of the line’s first expedition ship in Australia later this year.
Since, the line has experienced a record growth of 50 percent for the period from January to May this year compared to last year. The month of May was the strongest with more than 2,200 passengers booked.
Chief executive Jean-Emmanuel Sauvée said excellent results were thanks to investments over the last two years and a new forward bookings strategy.
“The figures underpin the performance of our business model after 25 years of hard work,” he said.
The line is expected further record growth in the coming year, particularly after launching 2015 itineraries during April this year, six months ahead of the traditional calendar.
Earlier this year, Ponant launched its fourth luxury expedition vessel, Le Lyrial.
