P&O Cruises World Cruising has announced a multi-million pound refurbishment of Ventura, Oceana and Arcadia, following a recent study commissioned by the company focusing on the different aspects of the cruise experience for existing and future passengers.

Ventura will welcome ‘The Glasshouse’ following its popularity aboard Azura in the area currently reserved for ‘Las Ramblas’.

TV presenter, wine expert and newspaper columnist, Olly Smith, will host wine tastings and food and wine pairings onboard throughout the year.

“I am delighted to expand The Glasshouse concept to Ventura which will enable even more people to enjoy their favourite wines or experiment with my recommendations by the glass,” Mr Smith said.

“We are constantly looking at new wines and will be introducing some zinging new tastes and countries to the list.”

18 new single cabins will also be added as part of the refurbishment aboard Ventura, with carpets replaced in all cabins and the addition of new bed runners, cushions, curtains and mattresses.

The library will feature new digital functions and a ‘Retreat’ will be installed on deck 16 forward during the 13-day drydock, with the first cruise post-refurbishment slated to depart on 7 April 2013.

“We are committed to ongoing and continuous improvement and refurbishment of our ships so that there is a consistent standard of decor across the fleet,” P&O Cruises World Cruising managing director Carol Marlow said.

“The addition of a dance floor in the atrium on board Ventura will make it the heart of the ship for afternoon and after dinner dancing, which is so popular on Azura.

The current ‘Cafe Jardin’ menu will be replaced with a Marco Pierre White menu aboard Oceana with additional and revamped seating in ‘Winners Casino’, ‘Le Club’ and ‘Horizon Grill’.

“Our research showed that the quality of dining is important to an overwhelming 97 per cent of respondents,” Ms Marlow said.

“The specialty restaurants also important as variety of dining came through as another priority, with premium grills, classic fine dining, Asian and Indian menus being the most popular.”

The ‘Oasis Spa’ change rooms, sauna and salon will be refurbished along with the retail outlets and ‘Sundaes’ ice-cream parlour.

Top deck lighting will be improved to enhance outdoor entertainment options and new lighting sound and AV equipment will feature in ‘Le Club’.
