P&O Cruises will become the first cruise operator to sail to Western Australia’s Margaret River, after adding the region to its new 2015 cruise program.
Located on the shore of Geographe Bay, Busselton, the cruise operator’s Pacific Jewel will sail to the area during two cruises from Freemantle in April and May 2015.
Tour packages are also in development to give travellers an opportunity to explore the area’s selection of wineries, breweries, chocolate factories, wildlife and scenery.
Speaking at the Carnival Australia Partnership Summit 2013, P&O Cruises senior vice president Tammy Marshall said sailing the Margaret River by cruise ship would be a “unique” way to see the region.
“Western Australians are going to love this three-night getaway, but I’m sure many interstate visitors will also be just as keen to make sailing to Margaret River a highlight of an extended holiday in the west,” Ms Marshall explained.
Meanwhile, P&O Cruises also unveiled that as part of the Pacific Jewel makeover, the cruise ship will emerge from Thales Shipyard at Garden Island on 22 August with an all new Laser Tag feature, a new nightclub and a dedicated chocolate shop.
