The search for a 73-year old Perth man has been called off after he was reported missing from the Sun Princess early yesterday.
The ship was sailing to Darwin on the tenth day of a 16-day cruise from Freemantle to Sydney, when a family member advised staff of the missing guest.
Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) organised an aircraft and vessel search. The ship retraced its course to join other vessels in the search. And staff circulated an image of the man, who is believed to have dementia, but according to a passenger onboard, nobody had seen him since yesterday.
The search was suspended at last light yesterday.
A Princess Cruises statement said a member of the Princess Cruises’ Care team is providing support to the passenger’s wife. The cruise line is also in contact with other family members to provide necessary support.
The statement read: “We are saddened to report that the passenger was not located.”
