Pandaw Cruises has announced it will make its first voyage down Vietnam’s Red River next year during a new 10-night ‘Halong Bay and the Red River’ itinerary.

Commencing in July next year aboard 16-suite Angkor Pandaw, the cruise offers guests the chance to explore the limestone islands and visit floating villages and a floating school in Halong Bay.

After seeing the iconic world heritage site, the ship will enter the Kinh Thay River for a call at Yen Duc Village and then onto the Duong River for stops in Dong Ho village to witness Dong Ho Vietnamese folk painting – a tradition that dates back to the 11th century.

Guests will have an opportunity to enjoy the nightlife of Hanoi with an overnight stay in the bustling city.

The cruise continues on day seven, when the ship enters the lower red river for a stop in Viet Tri and to riverine village, Hoa Hoa where guests will enjoy a hike ashore.

Day nine will see travellers sail downstream to the unspoilt Da River for a look at the Ba Vi National Park.

The second last stop on the itinerary will be Hoa Binh, the site of a major 1950s battle with the French.

The cruise will end in Mai Chau on day 11 where guests will see the ethnic minority, Black Thai and White Thai still living in Tai bamboo stilt houses.

Prices start from $2,866 (US$2,600) per person twin share for a main deck stateroom.

Bookings made before 31 October 2014 will be discounted by 10 percent.
