Loyal Royal Caribbean cruisers have been waiting with bated breath on news of when Ovation of the Seas (currently being built in Germany) would make its way Down Under – and the wait is finally over.
Today, Royal Caribbean released the Australian itineraries for the billion-dollar, 4905-passenger vessel and, even better, bookings can be made right now. Phones have been ringing off the hook since 9am, much to the delight of travel agents across the nation.
On December 6, 2016, when Ovation docks in Perth, she will become the largest cruise ship to ever call Australia home.
“Ovation of the Seas‘ first season will be historic, and we can’t wait for Australians to experience the world’s most advanced ship right on our doorstep,” says Sean Treacy, Commercial Director of Royal Caribbean International, Australia and Southeast Asia.
Ovation will embark on four sailings during the Australian summer. Kickstarting the season will be a 15-night New Zealand cruise from Sydney, departing December 15, 2016, calling at Hobart, Milford Sound, Dunedin, Wellington, Picton, Tauranga and Auckland. From there she’ll take a 10-night New Year cruise around New Zealand, including calls at Milford Sound, Dunedin, Wellington, Napier and Picton. During the January school holidays, she’ll take a similar trip but will add Bay of Islands to her itinerary. And her grand Australian finale (for now!) will take her on a 14-night cruise from Sydney to Kuala Lumpur via Brisbane and Darwin, departing January 23, 2017.
“This ship truly ignites the imagination of what is possible on a cruise holiday – from skydiving in the middle of the ocean and robot bartenders to North Star, an observation capsule that transports you more than 90 metres above the sea, providing stunning 360-degree views,” says Treacy.
Since more than 20,000 Aussies have already registered their interest in being the first onboard, these itineraries are set to book out faster than a Taylor Swift concert – especially since Royal Caribbean is offering a launch saving of up to $750*.
