Cruise fans caught a glimpse of Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest cruise ship this week, as Norwegian Getaway completed a float out from a covered shipyard.
The sister-ship to Norwegian Breakaway, she was built in 12-years and was moved from her Papenburg berth to undergo harbour trials.
“We are thrilled to see her leaving the building dock and getting ready for her sea trials,” builders, Meyer Werft managing partner Bernard Meyer said.
Next steps for the ship will be a sailing to the North Sea for seaworthy trials in mid-November.
She is scheduled to join the Norwegian fleet on 10 January next year. Her first commercial cruise will be a seven-day Eastern Caribbean itinerary commencing in Miami on 8 February 2014.
