Norwegian Cruise Line has announced it will use its brand new vessel, Norwegian Getaway as a floating hotel during the Super Bowl weekend.
The ship will be docked at Pier 88 in Manhattan on the Hudson River from 30 January to 2 February straight after her maiden trans-Atlantic voyage from the German shipyard.
She will receive the interim name ‘Bud Light Hotel New York’ and will offer accommodation for 4,000 sporting fans in 1,900 staterooms, ESPN New York reported. Rooms won’t be bookable by the general public, but rather retailers, partners and VIP guests.
In addition to the temporary name change, Bug Light Hotel will also host sports and music themed parties.
Hopefully the drunken sports fans won’t destroy the ship’s brand new carpeting.
This month, Norwegian Getaway was spotted sailing out of a covered shipyard. She is currently undergoing seaworthy trials and is scheduled to join the Norwegian Cruise Lines fleet on 10 January.
