Norwegian Cruise Line has confirmed a $1.6 billion order for two new Breakaway-Plus ships scheduled for delivery in 2018 and 2019.
The announcement follows last week’s speculations that the line was planning on constructing two new mega ships.
The two 4,200-passenger ships will be built by Germany shipyard Meyer Werft and are scheduled for delivery during the second quarter of 2018 and the fourth quarter of 2019.
They will join the line’s two other Breakaway-Plus class ships – Norwegian Escape and Norwegian Bliss, which are scheduled to launch in October 2015 and March 2017.
“It was only natural that we build on their success with this new ship order that further solidifies our long-term growth strategy.”
