Windstar names two new ships
NewsWindstar Cruises has revealed the names of its second and third Star Class yachts – Star Legend and Star Breeze.
The two ships are expected for delivery in 2015, and will join the first ship in the new class, Star Pride. She is scheduled to enter service next month.
The three power yachts are identical, stretching 440 feet long and carry a capacity of 212 passengers in 106 suites.
Star Breeze will be delivered on April 15, 2015 and will sail new itineraries in Northern Europe and Star Legend will be delivered on May 4, 2015 and will spend the summer season in the Mediterranean.
In addition to being the first in the new class of ships, they will also be the first in the Windstar fleet to feature a new range of cabins. The Destination Suites will be decorated in cultural décor from around the world – for example the Mykonos Suite on Star Pride will have paintings capturing Mykonos views.
New suites will roll out across the fleet from 2015.
Windstar Cruises chief executive officer Hans Birkholz said the new yachts are the perfect fit for the line’s style of small ship cruising.
“Additionally, these ships also allow us to visit beautiful new places in the Mediterranean, such as a scenic cruise down the Corinth Canal, something that was limited before due to the height of our sailing yachts,” he said.
