Prince Albert II will be renamed during a scheduled drydock later this month.
Silversea Cruises announced today that it would be changing the name of its only expedition ship, luxury icebreaker Prince Albert II, to Silver Explorer to fit more in line with the company’s brand.
“Our expansion into adventure travel has turned out quite successful and we have to prepare for the possibility of adding more ships,” said Manfredi Lefebre, Silversea Cruises chairman.
The vessel’s name-change will occur later this month when she goes in to drydock at the Lisnave shipyard in Portugal for scheduled maintenance before her summer season in Northern Europe and the Arctic.
“It has been an absolute privilege to have a ship in our fleet named in tribute to His Serene Highness Prince Albert II. We will continue to honour his legacy of exploration and environmental conservation through our support of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation,” Lefebre added.
Do you think Silver Explorer is a better name than Prince Albert II?*
