Weddings & Queens

Cunard Line is to offer guests the opportunity to get married at sea for the first time in its 171-year history.

One of the oldest names in cruising, the cruise line’s Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth will be available for wedding packages and onboard marriages from autumn 2012.

The wedding program will go on sale from December 2011 with a number of packages available, including the option of having the Captain perform the ceremony.

“We receive a lot of enquiries about the possibility of being married on one of our ships – particularly during our regularly scheduled Transatlantic crossings on our flagship Queen Mary 2, which no other company can offer,” said Peter Shanks, President of Cunard Line.

As English law does not permit weddings at sea, the Cruise Line will be moving the registration of the entire fleet from Southampton, UK, to Bermuda. It will also be necessary to have ‘Southampton’ removed from the ship’s hulls, with ‘Hamilton’ put in its place.
