NewsRiver cruise line announces four new ships for 2012.
Viking River Cruises is set for river cruise domination with the announcement of four newbuilds scheduled for launch in 2012, the next phase in a $250 million fleet development program.
Viking Freya, Viking Idun, Viking Njord and Viking Odin are part of a new breed of ships, dubbed “Longships”, that hark back to the ancient design of Scandinavian boats, distinguishable by their long and elegant shape.
Each Longship will be 135 metres long and have 95 staterooms, including two 41sqm Explorer Suites, seven 25sqm Veranda Suites and 39 19sqm Veranda Staterooms.
The ships even have fresh herb gardens!
This major launch will be the second time Viking River Cruises has launched four ships in a season, a feat that is unmatched in the industry, the cruise line says.
