Triumph for Carnival in Texas
NewsCarnival Triumph set sail on her scheduled five-day voyage to Mexico several hours late on Saturday following the ruling by a Texas judge that the ship be held in Galveston.
The Bloomberg News reported that the judge based the ruling on a USD$10 million lawsuit involving the death of a German guest aboard Costa Concordia in January.
Plaintiff attorney John Eaves Jr. stated that he filed the lawsuit to emphasize the need for Carnival to improve safety, not to inconvenience passengers.
“The litigation in question relates to a matter that involved a European-based cruise line that is a sister line to Carnival Cruise Lines,” a Carnival Cruise Lines spokesperson said in a statement on Saturday.
