Sun Princess cancels cruise on 2,000 passengers
NewsAlmost 2,000 cruisers ready to experience the newly renovated ship had their holiday plans cancelled this week, after a malfunction on board the Sun Princess forced Carnival Australia to cancel the ship’s 14-day sailing.
Passengers were notified of the cancellation hours before the cruise was due to sail out from Marina Bay Cruise Center in Singapore to Freemantle, Australia.
According to a statement from the cruise line, an issue with the switchboard resulted in limited on board power, which restricted the ship’s ability to run all hotel operations.
The cruise line has issued a full refund to affected passengers, a 100 percent future cruise credit and covered the cost for all return flights home as well as incidentals.
A special team of repair workers have also been sent to Singapore to assist with repairs and ensure the ship is operational for its 3 September 12-day Asia cruise from Freemantle to Singapore.
