Lindblad Expeditions has announced adventurer Peter Hillary, author Barry Lopez and the first female Foreign Minister of Spain Ana Palacio are among the special guests to sail aboard its ships later this year and 2015.
Joining as part of the line’s Global Perspectives Speakers Program, special guests are selected to share their experiences with guests during lounge talks and spend time with them during Zodiac cruises, over a drink or during dinner.
He will again sail with the line on three voyages in 2015.
Peter is famous for climbing the highest mountain on every continent, including Mount Everest five times.
His experiences also include one where he was the sole survivor of a storm that claimed the lives of seven other climbers on K2 – the world’s second highest mountain.
Peter will be on the Journey to Antarctica: The White continent cruise departing 28 January and 7 February.
Ana Palacio – National Geographic Explorer
Find out how Ana Palacio became the first female Foreign Minister of Spain and the first woman to hold a senior position in the Spanish Government.
Ana will travel on the Island Odyssey: Azores, Canaries and Cape Verde cruise departing 22 September 2014.
Barry Lopez – National Geographic Explorer
The author of 14 fiction and non-fiction books, the finalist for the National Book Award and recipient of several prestigious writing awards will be sharing his stories with Lindblad guests next year.
Barry will join the Arctic Svalbardon itinerary on 9 June.
Lawrence Blair – National Geographic Orion
Emmy Award winner and expert on culture, geography and zoology of Indonesia, Lawrence Blair will board National Geographic Orion for three voyages.
The first two will be the Camp Leakey: Faces in the Forest expeditions departing 18 and 28 September 2014.
The third cruise will be the Spice Island Adventure from Bali to the Great Barrier Reef departing 20 October 2014.
Carol Kidu – National Geographic Orion
Dame Carol Kidu has lived in Papua New Guinea for more than 40 years, working as a teacher and part of the Papua New Guinean Government. She has received three Honorary Doctorates and Dameship from the British Empire in 2005.
Guests will be able to meet and chat with Carol on the Exploring the Coral Sea: Papua New Guinea to Fiji voyage departing 5 November 2014.
Jared Diamond – National Geographic Orion
Jared Diamond is a highly acclaimed author. He wrote the widely applauded Guns, Germs and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies, which won him a Pulitzer Prize.
He will travel on Lindblad’s Antarctica, South Georgia and the Falklands cruise departing 15 February.
