Luxury line Silversea will outlay US$170 million to refresh and refurbish three of its ships, Silver Whisper, Silver Wind and Silver Discoverer in October this year. This will be the biggest refurbishment in the line’s history.
The 15-year-old Silver Whisper which hosts the line’s World Cruise, a three month round-the-world itinerary, will have its suites, bathrooms ad restaurants undergo a major overhaul to make them more contemporary. The ship’s communications hub will also be upgraded with the installation of two satellite antennas to improve internet speeds on board. She will enter dry-dock in October before resuming her scheduled itineraries in November.
Silver Wind will undergo a major facelift of her public areas and upgrade of her technology with interactive TV and on-demand movies available in every suite.
Silver Discoverer, which launched in 2014 as an expedition ship, will also have her public areas revamped. Her restaurants will be modernised and the pool grill area will have new furniture.
Silversea has a fleet of eight ships and will launch its ninth ship, Silver Muse in April next year.
