Silversea orders largest ship
NewsSilversea has placed an order for its new ship Silver Muse – and has booked reliable Italian shipbuilders Fincantieri to get the job done right.
“We have always had a special relationship with Fincantieri, since my father ordered from them the first cruise vessels for Sitmar Cruises in 1987,” said Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio, Chairman of Silversea.
The “ultra-luxury” ship, which is expected to sail out in April 2017, will house 596 guests in spacious all-suite accommodation.
Specifics of the ship are yet to be revealed, but Norwegian company Scanship did report earlier this year that it had secured a deal to supply a new Silversea ship with equipment for advanced waste-water purification, vacuum food-waste processing and garbage handling with incineration.
Last month, Silversea did announce it would offer at least one hour of free wi-fi to all guests sailing on voyages from January 2016 – so that’s a confirmed bonus.
The vessel with be Silversea’s largest and will expand the fleet to nine.
