Silversea will set off on its first specialised photo expedition voyage this month, led by award-winning photographer, David Wright.

The first of two photography itineraries will depart on 31 July  on a 14-day roundtrip from Nome, USA to the Russian Far East.

Guests will visit 17 areas in Russia, including Kamchatka – the home to the giant brown bear and a number of volcanoes.

The second tour will depart from Dunedin in New Zealand on 22 December 2014. It will sail for 16-days to New Zealand’s sub-Antarctic islands, offering opportunities to snap images of 126 various species of birds and 17 species of penguins.

Both cruises will be on Silversea’s newest expedition ship, Silver Discoverer.

Australasia general manager and director of sales and marketing, Karen Christensen said the voyages will offer unlimited photographic opportunities in remote parts of the world.

“Having a renowned photography expert like David Wright on board two of our upcoming voyages will no doubt enhance our guests’ on board experience,” she said.

“David’s extensive knowledge and experience will provide guests with expert tips on image composition as well as assisting guests with camera settings to ensure the best possible image is captured.”
