Which ship do you want in Australia?
NewsAustralia is set to welcome at least five new ships next year, but it still isn’t enough to quench our thirst for cruising.
Cruise Passenger asked its readers which ships they’d like to see sailing around our shores and Princess Cruises’ Royal Princess was a clear favourite, winning 31 percent of the votes.
Australians are also eyeing the largest ships in the world, with 26 percent saying they want Royal Caribbean’s Oasis-class vessels – Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas – down under, while 17 percent want to feel like a kid again on a Disney ship.
MSC will be sending MSC Orchestra to our shores next year, but nine percent of Cruise Passenger readers said the line’s Fantasy-class 3,502-passenger ship, MSC Preziosa is their preferred choice in Australia.
Meanwhile, Seabourn’s boutique 450-guest Seabourn Quest also made the wish list as the fifth most requested ship.
Other ships locals want to see in Australia include Royal Clipper, Oceania Riveria and any Norwegian vessel.
Meanwhile, of the new ships set to visit for the first time next year, almost half of Cruise Passenger’s readers said they’re keen to try Explorer of the Seas, followed by Golden Princess, which received 37 percent of the votes.
Over six percent said they were keen to get on board Carnival Legend and three percent are eager to try Celebrity Century.
The recently refurbished National Geographic Orion was also on the bucket list of ships to try in Australia as was Celebrity Solstice and Queen Mary 2.
