Sea Princess sets sail again after repairs

Sea Princess left dry dock at Garden Island in Sydney early this morning after engineers spent weeks fixing the ship’s propeller bearings.

Princess was forced to cancel two Sea Princess sailing last month as a result of “technical issues”, so her sailing is good news for passenger booked on her next voyage.

The line said in a statement to Cruise Passenger that the ship has commenced post-repair sea trials and the line is certain she will be ready for her 14-day New Zealand cruise departing from Brisbane on 13 October.

It is believed repair work has been underway on the crankshaft on one of the ship’s four engines – the crankshaft is responsible for the engine’s rotation motion.

In Fremantle earlier this month a separate issue was said to be found on the propeller shaft bearing and the current drydock allows the line to repair both issues.
