Your chance to sail out of Australia on the new Queen Elizabeth.

When Cunard’s latest ocean liner, the 2,092-passenger Queen Elizabeth, visits Australia on her inaugural world cruise in 2011, she will be making maiden calls to three Australian cities – including of course Sydney, where the ‘royal rendezvous’ with her big sister Queen Mary 2 will take place on February 22. A 25-night voyage from Sydney to Singapore is now on sale, departing Sydney on February 22, which will include inaugural visits to Indonesia, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Thailand. An 18-night Fremantle to Singapore cruise is also on offer, departing on March 1. Excitement is mounting as the christening ceremony is now just days away – Queen Elizabeth II will name the new ocean liner in Southampton on Monday October 11.

“The Queen launched Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth 2 in 1967 and named our current flagship Queen Mary 2 in 2004,” said Peter Shanks, Cunard’s president and managing director. History buffs will know that Her Majesty was also present at the age of 12 at the launch of the first Queen Elizabeth on September 27 1938 when she accompanied her mother, Queen Elizabeth, to Clydebank, in Scotland, for the launch.
