Adventure cruise line, Quark is said to be expanding its business in the south pole, with a third Antarctic expedition ship.

TTG Digital reported that the line will reveal details of the new vessel ‘shortly’ to be used during the 2015/16-season.

Quark currently has a fleet of five ships, although Ocean Diamond and Sea Adventurer are the only two used on Antarctic voyages including the 21-day ‘Epic Antarctica’ cruise and 11- to- 12-day ‘Antarctic Explorer’ voyage.

Similar to other ships in Quark’s fleet, the new ship is expected to carry less than 200 passengers and is likely to be equipped with Zodiacs for shore excursions to remote places.

The ship may also have ice-strengthened hulls for navigation through ice-packed polar waters and could be completely carbon neutral like Ocean Diamond.

Cruise Passenger attempted to contact the Canada- based company for comment, but a spokesperson said comment won’t be available until Tuesday due to Canada’s Civic public holiday.
