Plans seemed underway for a UK  return for the liner earlier this month or a possible sale for scrap, but  Dubai-based owners, Istithmar decided instead to create a consortium to  preserve the liner, led by Singapore-based investment group Oceanic.

The QE2 was moved to Drydocks World Dubai last week, where she will undergo “classification checks prior to her renovation as a luxury floating hotel,” according to a statement by Drydocks World.

A number of Asian cities have expressed interest in porting  the liner, but, whilst an announcement is yet to be made, reports suggest that  Singapore and Hong Kong are the most likely options.
