Princess’s newest fleet member, Discovery Princess, has set off on her maiden voyage through the Mexican Riviera.
The occasion was celebrated aptly, with Princess President John Padgett among guests at a special ceremony to mark the vessel’s first call.
Discovery Princess is Princess’s 15th ship, taking in 3660 guests, possessing the largest balconies at sea and Michelin-star dining.
You can find 25 bars and restaurants, including the most “al fresco” dining opportunities of any Princess ship, four pools, 10 hot tubs and the state-of-the-art Princess Theatre.
Mr Padgett said: “Today, we celebrate our newest ship, Discovery Princess, as she sets sail on her maiden voyage to the Mexican Riviera from the Port of Los Angeles – the same port our very first cruise departed from in 1965.
“Cruising is back and the elegant Discovery Princess showcases the many reasons why travellers should take a cruise now. We also recognise and applaud the ship’s company, which will work tirelessly to deliver memorable cruise vacations to all who sail on this magnificent cruise ship.”
The vessel is now on its first of a series of sailings through the Mexican Riviera and up the famed California Coast, then from the end of April, Discovery will pivot to Seattle and start sailing seven-day Alaskan itineraries. Following the Alaskan season, she’ll return to Southern California to recommence Mexican Riviera itineraries.
