First images of P&O’s newest ship are out, as she floated out of the shipyard for the first time.

Late last week, the 5,000-passenger vessel left Italian Fincanterier’s Monflacone shipyard.

Celebrating her emergence, Carnival held a short ceremony on board, which included the traditional coin welding on the open deck for good luck and the ship’s godmother, Travel Counsellor Louise Hunt smashed a bottle of wine on the hull.

Weighing up to 141,000 tonnes, Britannia will be the largest ship designed for the British market.

She is scheduled to launch in March 2015 and will cruise the Mediterranean and Northern Europe.

In addition to 13 bars, restaurants and cafes across 15 passenger decks, Britannia will also have more single cabins than any other cruise ship.
