Ponant’s new vessel
NewsCompagnie du Ponant has released details of its newest luxury expedition ship, Le Lyrial, which will feature the largest cabins in the company’s fleet.
The French-based company revealed she will have a completely redesigned upper deck to cater to larger rooms, USA Today reported.
Suites on board Le Lyrial will be as large at 600 square feet, compared to 480 square feet on other Boreal-class vessels, L’Austral, Le Boreal and Le Soleal.
To make room for the larger suites Le Lyrial will have fewer cabins – 122 compared to 132 on her sister ships.
Similar to her sister ships, she will be designed with a cosy and contemporary interior. Colours inside the ship will vary around a palette of blues to represent the various areas she will travel, including the grey-blue of the Polar Ice to vivid turquoise found in the Mediterranean.
Le Lyrial will join the line’s fleet in April 2015, and was named after the Lyra constellation in the northern hemisphere.
Earlier this year, Compagnie du Ponant confirmed it will send its first expedition ship to Australia.
L’Austral is expected to visit Australia and New Zealand for the 2014/15 wave season.
