Royal Caribbean’s ship registry, The Commonwealth of the Bahamas, has given permission to the cruise line to conduct legal weddings at sea officiated by the ship captain.

The ‘Royal Romance’ weddings and vow renewal program offers engaged couples the opportunity to have a multi-destination wedding with the actual location of the ship at the time of saying “I do” recorded in the Marriage Record book of the Bahamas.

“The Bahamas is happy to participate in this venture with Royal Caribbean International,” The Bahamas Attorney-General and Minister of Legal Affairs Allyson Maynard-Gibson said.

“This premier cruise line has been bringing visitors to our beautiful country for many years and we know that the Royal Romance weddings and vow renewal program will encourage even more visitors to our beautiful shores.”

A ‘Sweethearts at Sea’ promotion is being offered by the cruise line, which includes a complimentary ‘Romance at Sea’ package when 12 or more staterooms are booked on a cruise of five-nights or longer in 2013.

Now available for bookings for cruises departing from 1 January 2013, additional benefits are included if more than 25 staterooms are booked on the one voyage of five-nights or more.

A team of ‘Royal Romance’ wedding specialists will be on hand on from day one of wedding planning offering services including; advice on legal requirements pre-departure and onboard assistance on the big day.

A range of customisable ‘Royal Romance’ package options are available that include such details as the groom’s boutonniere, the bride’s bouquet and a live soloist during the wedding ceremony.
