ms Koningsdam’s family suites target multigenerational cruisers
NewsHolland America is driving hard for the rapidly growing multigenerational market as it announces the line’s first ever purpose-built family rooms on the ms Koningsdam, to debut in February 2016.
The 32 ocean view family staterooms range in size from 20 to 21 square metres, sleep five people and have two bathrooms, including one with a bathtub. Richard Meadows, executive vice president, sales, marketing and guest programs for Holland America, said “a cruise is one of the most popular ways to travel as a family, and we continue to welcome more multigenerational groups each year. To help us better serve families, we are pleased to be able to offer these tailored staterooms on ms Koningsdam.”
Solo travellers will also be catered for with 12 ocean view solo cabins ranging size from 12 to 16 square metres spread across the ship.
Passengers will be able to try new immersive farm to table dining experiences in the Culinary Arts Centre. They can prepare meals with the chefs, watch cooking demonstrations in the open kitchen and dine on meals made with ingredients from a glass-enclosed growing area by the kitchen.
The two storey main theatre, The World Stage, surrounds the audience with a 270-degree LED screen and will host five new productions. The huge space can be transformed into different configurations to host a range of performances and allowing the line to debut new entertainment concepts.
